Pithy historical fiction addressing today's problems
Joe Cooke has sympathetically addressed the grief of the unloved wife in the story of Leah, the rebellion and destruction in the bitterness and lack of forgiveness in the shallow life of Esau, the terrible results in the family resulting from the disobedience of David despite his repentance, the degredation of the sexual addict in the story of Solomon, the wonder and simple faith of a child in the story of the boy and his lunch, the transformation of a money grubbing tax collector into one who cares and shares, the man who serves God, turns away and comes back, and the agony and release of the demonized from the standpoint of the pig farmer. Please read this. Perhaps you will find yourself and in this encounter with truth discover the answers for which you have been searching.

Ernie's Little Toolbox (Chunky Shape Books)
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (August, 1991)
Authors: Tom Cooke and Annie Ingle
Average review score:

Great learning for little builders
My 2 and 1/2 year old son loves to read this book. He watches his dad build in the garage and is fascinated by tools and building. This book goes through the steps and tools used to build a birdhouse. It is very simple and straightforward and shows Ernie and Bert working together. A great learning tool for how things get done step-by-step and which tools are used when. I notice the age range is 4-8, but I would say more like 2-4 is appropriate.

Exhibition and pet mice
Published in Unknown Binding by Spur Publications ; [Distributed by] Saiga ()
Author: Tony Cooke
Average review score:

Useful for expert and novice alike
This book is excellent if you are really serious about exhibiting mice. Care information, breeds, information on the history of the mouse fancy and a comprehensive genetics section.

The only drawback is its age, so there are few coloured pictures of breeds and the breeds and genetic information is a little out of date.

It would be great if it could be updated and re-released.

Fathers of America's Freedom: The Story of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence,
Published in Hardcover by Hammond (June, 1969)
Author: Donald Ewin, Cooke
Average review score:

A classic of American History
I've had this book since I was little. It's good. It's just under a hundred pages long and it covers its subject well. The book has all the profiles of the signers and a reprint of the Declaration of Independence in the back. Read it.

The Federalist
Published in Paperback by Wesleyan Univ Pr (August, 1982)
Authors: Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Jay, and Jacob E. Cooke
Average review score:

The framers of the Constitution in their own words
An essential book for every American both young or old, male or female, Democrat or Republican. A delightful discovery on the need of God and guns (or perhaps swords) in the United States and the intolerance of a government in charge of all but answerable to noone. An undeniably perfect fit for todays culture.

Discover your roots from the men that gave their lives for the signing of the Constitution; true heroes. Their resolve was unquestionable and the love for country without reproach.

They brought us so far. We've walked away. Read it and weep. BK

Get a grip
Published in Unknown Binding by New York, NY, USA : Penguin Books ()
Author: Kaz Cooke

Get a Grip!
If you want a book that will have you in stitches, then this is it! I laughed so hard I cried. The book is a collection of columns Kaz Cooke has written for various newspapers in Australia. Kaz writes about fashion, sex, women's rights and politics to name a few. One of my favourite articles is titled 'Shock horror, size 14', I laugh every time I read it! I enjoy this book so much because it pokes fun at everyday things and makes me feel good reading about just how silly some things really are, while having a really good laugh at the same time! Kaz Cooke's dry humour really appeals to me.

Grover Takes Care of Baby
Published in School & Library Binding by Goldencraft (October, 1987)
Authors: Golden Books, Tom Cooke, and Sesame Street
Average review score:

Grover Takes Care of Baby
I liked this book personally because it had to do with babies. It made you understand how a little kid would take care of a baby. In the beginning Grover was playing ball and it rolled under a baby carriage. He noticed it was his friend Marsha and her little brother Max. So he asked her what she was doing and she said she was taking care of Max while her mom and dad went away. So, Grover said if I was babysitting my little cousin I would teach her how to climb a mountain. Battle a wild gang of lions, and everything in between. In the end his Aunt called and asked if his mom and him could watch his baby cousin. So, he ended up feeding her and babysitting her.

Global Voices: Contemporary Literature from the Non-Western World
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall (27 December, 1994)
Authors: Arthur W. Biddle, Gloria Bien, Miriam Cooke, and Vinay Dharwadker
Average review score:

Not a textbook to sell back
All right. Granted, this book is used by many universities as a textbook for modern literature. Despite the stigma that implies, this is a very worthwhile read. It offers a good cross section of literature from asian to africa. (the african poem "the mulatta and the minotaur" by lorna goodison is a very good example of the quality of work presented) I recommend this for anyone looking to expand their appreciation of literature outside the western world.

Comprehensive Choice for Student, Teacher, and Buff
As far as a source for world literature that covers the range of everything from contemporary poetry to contemporary drama, there may be no equal to this book.
